Downtime

Between situations-and-mysteries, a Warden lives and trains.

Downtime play proceeds in turns; each Warden should decide their actions and then all actions are resolved by the Referee. A downtime turn generally represents a week or two’s time. During any downtime turn, a Warden may restore their Guard and Aether to full and replenish any basic supplies.

Basic Downtime Turns

Rest

When you rest, frame a short scene of recovery and care with another character (either a Warden or an NPC). Clear your injuries, but not your scars. Surviving serious injuries may award Renown (at the group’s discretion).

Research

When you research a question or method, tell the Referee who or what you consult. Often your Entanglements will come in handy. The Referee may ask you to roll, or simply tell you the outcome: you hit a definitive dead end, you earn a promising lead, or you find the answer you’re seeking.

Train

When you train your skills, you may also spend renown you’ve accumulated to advance:

Explain how the Renown you’re spending relates to the new advancement. Renown earned from solving mysteries acts as a wildcard, and may always be used.

Work

When you seek out work for hire, tell the Referee whether you’re looking to curry favor or earn money. (TODO)
