Recovery
Wardens can spend a watch resting to recover from damage or strain. Usually this is sleeping for a night, but Wardens may rest at any time.
When you rest, check the quality of your shelter to build a dice pool:
| Situation | Dice |
|---|---|
| Tents or basic shelter, a fishing vessel | 1d |
| A barn, a hunter’s camp, a berth on a sailing ship | 2d |
| A room in town, a comfortable cabin on a voyage | 3d |
| A well-equipped suite in a town or city | 4d |
Choose one result to recover Guard and which towards recover Aether. On a result of 1-3, recover 1 point; on a 4/5, recover 2 points; on a 6, recover 3 points. If rolling 1d, choose only one of Guard or Aether to recover.
In inclement weather, replace your highest roll with a 1 (unless you have some way to stay comfortable, like building a campfire on a cold night).
You may discard any number of 6s from your dice pool in exchange for 1 Insight each.
All Wardens must consume a meal to rest fully. Basic rations (1 Gear) do the trick, as would a meal purchased or offered by others. Any Warden who does not eat only recovers 1 Guard, and no Aether.
