Renown

A Warden thrives on their reputation. In some ways they quite literally depend on it; a town is less likely to support a no-name conjurer of cheap tricks than a well-regarded regional hero.

Whenever the crew publishes about their findings (often the solution to a mystery), they gain Renown. More complicated situations may grant more Renown (generally from 1 to 3).

As Renown accrues to the Wardens, their power grows. Every 10 Renown, a Warden advances a level:

  1. +1 Aether
  2. Take a Power Upgrade or increase two Ability Ratings (to a max of 3)
  3. Gain or upgrade a Skill; gain or upgrade a Technique
  4. +1 Aether
  5. Take a second Power
  6. Increase two Ability Ratings (to a max of 3)
  7. +1 Aether
  8. Gain or upgrade a Skill; gain or upgrade a Technique
  9. Increase an Ability Rating (to a max of 4)
  10. Take a Power Upgrade
  11. Increase an Ability Rating (to a max of 4)
  12. +1 Aether

After level 12, Wardens may upgrade a skill, technique, or power each time they would level up.
